Hi! We’re so glad you’re here.

We’re Julia and Marc — husband and wife, and co-creators of Music with Melody.

The idea for this program came about while we were thinking (and talking a lot!) about how much we wish music was easier to integrate into everyday life. We were especially thinking about our friends and family who have kids, but don’t have a musical background themselves.

Julia has a deep background in music (years of training and performance in piano, voice, theatre, and music literacy), and it’s really important to us that our own child grows up learning how to read music, play an instrument, clap to the beat, sing on pitch, and explore all kinds of genres. But as we thought about how important this was to us, we couldn’t help but think about all the families we know who don’t feel equipped to teach music at home, and how their kids still deserve access to it.

So, we decided we’d try to build a program that would introduce meaningful songs and simple (but foundational!) music theory concepts to kids. We didn’t want to share just “kid songs” or passive playlists. We wanted to make space for jazz, pop, classical, and folk music, and give kids tools to actually learn to listen and engage with those genres. We want them to understand what they’re hearing by noticing rhythm, mood, structure, and story, and build a foundation for whatever musical interest comes next. And we wanted all of that to happen without adding more screen time…!

With all that in mind, we began testing homemade lessons in mail. Each one featured a song, the story behind it, a few things to learn or listen for, and some simple activities to spark curiosity and build confidence. Letter by letter, we tweaked and refined our lessons. We got great feedback, some not so great. But when we finally settled on our format… something clicked. We had parents we sent our lessons to ask, “Do you have another one?”
We knew we had something then….

…and so, Music with Melody was born.
